UNC-Pembroke
PEMBROKE,

The UNC-Pembroke
Lady
Braves
had too
much
offensive
firepower
for the
Methodist
Lady
Monarchs
on
Tuesday
as UNC-Pembroke
blanked
the
visiting
Lady
Monarchs
9-0 at
the Belk
Athletic
Complex.
The
defeat
is the
second
straight
for
Methodist,
which is
now 3-7
overall.
The Lady
Braves
got two
goals
each
from
Melanie
Cobb,
Katie
Stokes
and
Sarah
Day.
Cobb
scored
her
first
goal in
the 13th
minute,
followed
by a
goal by
Kelly
Jones in
the 26th
minute.
Stokes
scored
her
first
goal in
the
later
minutes
of the
half to
give UNC-Pembroke
a 3-0
lead at
halftime.
The Lady
Braves
broke it
open in
the
second
half
with six
goals.
Day
scored
her two
goals in
the
second
half,
while
Cobb and
Day
scored
their
second
goals as
well.
UNC-Pembroke
also had
second
half
goals
from
Nina
Ratzkowski
and
Nisha
Akins.
Lady
Brave
goalkeeper
Hillary
Helms
recorded
five
saves,
while
Methodist
goalkeeper
Amanda
Evans
posted
four
saves.
The Lady
Monarchs
had six
shots on
goal for
the
game.
Methodist
travels
to
Washington,
D.C., on
Saturday
for a 1
p.m.
showdown
at
Catholic.
