March 29, 2008 FERRUM, VA- The Methodist women's tennis team played at Ferrum College Saturday morning taking the 9-0 sweep over the Panthers. Methodist moves to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the USA South while Ferrum is 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference this season. Seniors Tiffany Tucker and Jenny Smith won 8-0 at number one doubles and senior Leighton Bull and freshman Kaitlin Flaherty won the number two match 8-0. Junior Shannon Vivian and senior Sara Seiling combined for the 8-0 win at number three. The Monarchs finished the sweep with all six wins during the singles competition. Tucker and sophomore Lindsey Davis both won 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at number one and five singles respectively. Flaherty took the number two match 6-2, 6-0 and Smith won 6-1, 6-0 at number three. Vivian won 6-0, 6-1 at number four and senior Lauren Hulse finished up with the 6-2, 6-2 win at number six. The Monarchs will play at Peace on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
