The Methodist University women’s tennis program has emerged as a force in the South Region after claiming 12 Dixie Intercollegiate/USA South Athletic Conference championships in the last 16 seasons, before capturing the USA South Tournament Championship in 2007 and 2008. The Monarchs are ready to make another run for the title. In addition, highly recruited freshmen will bring great depth to the team this year for head coach Francie Barragan.

The Monarchs Tennis program has experienced tremendous success in the past. The 2002 team broke many records, by earning the school's second-ever NCAA Division III National Tournament team appearance after earning a school-best #17 national ranking. Over the past eight years, the Methodist women's tennis program has won seven Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/USA South Athletic Conference championships, two Conference Tournament championship, five individual national championships (ITA and NCAA), earned nine All-American honors and five NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances.
