Women's Tennis Finishes Season at Mary Washington
Tiffany Tucker and Jenny Smith upset regionally ranked doubles team
FREDERICKSBURG, VA- Methodist
took on Mary Washington on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA
Tournament. The Eagles are ranked sixth nationally and seeded seventh
in the tournament. Methodist won the number one doubles match but lost
5-1. The team finishes the season 21-4 overall, with the most wins in
Methodist women's tennis history. release

Monarchs Advance in NCAA Tournament
Tiffany Tucker and Jenny Smith helped give Methodist a 3-0 lead after
doubles
FREDERICKSBURG, VA- For
the second year in a row, the Methodist women's tennis team opened the
NCAA Tournament with a win. The Monarchs knocked off Elizabethtown 5-1
on Friday afternoon after taking a 3-0 lead through doubles and securing
two singles wins in order to put the match out of reach for Elizabethtown.

Women's Tennis To Face Elizabethtown in NCAA Tournament
Monarchs will play at Mary Washington University
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The
Methodist women's tennis team received its second consecutive bid to
the NCAA Tournament after claiming the USA South Tournament Championship
just over a week ago. The NCAA announced the 2008 Division III bracket
on Monday night sending the Monarchs to Mary Washington to face Elizabethtown
College on Friday at 1 pm. release

Women's Tennis Clinches USA South Championship
Monarchs earned seventh title in eight years
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The
Methodist women's tennis team hosted USA South rival Christopher Newport
on Saturday in what would determine the regular season conference champion.
The Monarchs opened with a 2-1 lead after doubles and went on to win
7-2 to break the Captains 17 match winning streak. Methodist moves to
17-3 overall and 9-0 in the USA South while Christopher Newport is 17-1
overall and 7-1 in the conference this season. release

Freshman Kaitlin Flaherty wins second straight shutout 6-0, 6-0 at singles
ROCKY MOUNT, NC- The
Methodist women's tennis team traveled to N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday
and picked up another 9-0 win, for the 11th shutout of the season. Methodist
moves to 16-3 overall and 8-0 in the USA South while N.C. Wesleyan is
0-16 overall and 0-7 in the conference this season. release

Freshman Heather Ford wins 8-0 at number three doubles with Lauren Hulse
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The
Monarchs traveled to Peace for their seventh conference match after
last week's scheduled match was postponed due to rain. Methodist made
quick work of things on Tuesday with a 9-0 win. Methodist moves to 15-3
overall and 7-0 in the USA South while Peace is 5-6 overall and 4-3

Seniors Lauren Hulse and Leighton Bull won 8-0 in doubles

Methodist women's team recognized their five seniors prior to the match
on Sunday before the Monarchs cruised to a 9-0 win over Shenandoah.

match was moved indoors to get out of the rain and Mary Baldwin was

to 13-3 overall and 5-0 in the USA South while Mary Baldwin is 1-7 overall

Monarchs made quick work of Huntingdon winning all three doubles matches
and picking up the first three singles before the match was decided

Senior Lauren Hulse won two singles and two doubles matches
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Methodist
started things off Friday morning with an 8-1 victory over NCAA Division
I N.C. Central University. Continuing on to USA South opponent Averett
University, the Monarchs won 9-0. Methodist moves to 9-3 overall this
season and starts 2-0 in the USA South. N.C. Central drops to 1-12 while
Averett is 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference. release

Freshman Kaitlin Flaherty won 6-2, 6-3 at number two singles
MISENHEIMER, NC- The
Methodist women's tennis team traveled to Division II Pfeiffer University
on Monday for a match against the Falcons. The Monarchs had an early
lead after the doubles portion of the match, but Pfeiffer came back
to win 5-4. Methodist moves to 6-3 this season while Pfeiffer improves

Junior Shannon Vivian teamed with Kaitlin Flaherty for 8-5 loss at doubles
ELON, NC- Methodist traveled
to Elon University on Tuesday for a match with the Division I program.
The Phoenix shut out the Monarchs 7-0. Methodist moves to 6-2 this season
while Elon improves to 9-5 overall. release

ORLANDO, FL- The Monarchs
added another win to their record on Thursday with a 9-0 victory over
the College of St. Scholastica. The shutout is the team's fifth this
season. Methodist improves to 6-1 overall while St. Scholastica is 7-3

Weekend Schedule Changes
Lacrosse and tennis postponed due to weather
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-
Some of the Methodist University athletic events have been postponed
this weekend due to some weather concerns. The lacrosse game scheduled
for Saturday against Shenandoah has been moved to Sunday at 1 pm. Both
tennis matches against Maryville set for Saturday have been postponed
with hopes to reschedule later this season. release

Senior Jenny Smith won 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles
MURFREESBORO, NC- The Monarchs hit the road on Saturday traveling
to Chowan and Mary Washington. Methodist knocked off Chowan with a 9-0
shutout victory before falling 0-9 to nationally ranked Mary Washington.
Methodist moves to 2-1 this season while Chowan is 0-1 and Mary Washington
is 2-0 thus far.

University. Methodist opens the season at 1-0 while Fayetteville State

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South Conference
office released the preseason polls today for the remaining spring sports.
Baseball was released earlier this month. The polls are based
on votes from each conference member's head coach without voting for

Methodist Tennis Teams Ranked Regionally
Freshman Kaitlin Flaherty ranked 16th in the Atlantic South
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The
Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently released the FILA
rankings for Division III with both the Methodist men's and women's
tennis teams receiving regional rankings in the Atlantic South. The
men are 12th in the region while the women have been ranked 10th. release
