Women's Tennis Finishes Season at Mary Washington
Tiffany Tucker and Jenny Smith upset regionally ranked doubles team

FREDERICKSBURG, VA-  Methodist took on Mary Washington on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles are ranked sixth nationally and seeded seventh in the tournament. Methodist won the number one doubles match but lost 5-1. The team finishes the season 21-4 overall, with the most wins in Methodist women's tennis history.

Seniors Tiffany Tucker and Jenny Smith took on Natalia Fugate and Becky Morse-Karzen, ranked fifth in the region to win 8-6 at number one doubles. Senior Leighton Bull and freshman Kaitlin Flaherty lost 8-6 at number two while juniors Shannon Vivian and Courtney Vail dropped the number three match 8-0.

In singles play, Tucker lost 6-1, 6-3 and Smith lost 6-2, 6-3 at number three. Bull dropped the number five match 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Lindsey Davis lost 6-0, 6-0. Flaherty lost the first set at number two 6-4 but was ahead 2-1 when the match was decided. Vivian lost 6-2 and was down 4-3 in the second.

Congratulations to Tucker, Smith and Bull on their graduation. The three seniors missed the Methodist University ceremony due to the NCAA Tournament.
