April 8, 2008 FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Monarchs traveled to Peace for their seventh conference match after last week's scheduled match was postponed due to rain. Methodist made quick work of things on Tuesday with a 9-0 win. Methodist moves to 15-3 overall and 7-0 in the USA South while Peace is 5-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference this season. Six Monarchs combined to earn the sweep at doubles and start the match 3-0. Methodist did not give up a game as they finished 24-0 in the three matches. Seniors Tiffany Tucker and Jenny Smith won at number one while freshman Kaitlin Flaherty and junior Shannon Vivian won at number two. Senior Lauren Hulse and freshman Heather Ford finished off at number three. Tucker, Flaherty and sophomore Lindsey Davis all won 6-0, 6-0 at number one, two and six singles. Smith won 6-0, 6-1 at number two and Vivian took the number four match 6-0, 6-1. Senior Leighton Bull won the number five match 6-1, 6-0. The Monarchs will travel to N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday for a 4:30 pm match with their final home match scheduled for Saturday against Christopher Newport. Photo courtesy of Terry Tucker |
