Methodist University Welcomes New Students to Orientation

Methodist University will welcome 550 new students, including 373 freshmen, when New Student Orientation begins on Thursday, Aug. 15. Move-in and registration open at 8 a.m. Orientation activities will run through Sunday, followed by the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 19.

Among those on hand to greet the students and their families Thursday will be first-year president Dr. Stan Wearden. Campus and community volunteers, many from area churches, will be available to help students move into their residence halls.

Swanson Joins Methodist University as Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Methodist University announces that it has named Greg Swanson as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Senior Counsel after a national search. Swanson, who earned a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska and a bachelor’s degree from Creighton as well, has two decades of experience in higher education and most recently served as Vice President for College Relations and General Counsel at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C.

Arts Council Grant Helps Bring World-Class Musicians to Methodist University

Methodist University recently received a Project Support grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County. The Arts Council awarded a $3,850 grant for the 11th annual Friends of Music Guest Artist Series, a series of evening concerts and free school workshops.
