The NIC card allows you to connect your computer to the network/Internet. Basically, you will have one of two choices of NICs. One would be an internal NIC or you could purchase a USB external NIC. It is your choice to determine which you prefer. Both types, internal or external NIC will work.

If you purchase a shorter CAT V patch cord, you will have limited choices of where to locate your computer in your residence hall room.
