Trustees Classroom Building (Computer Assisted Composition)

Overview: The CAC Lab at Methodist University has a unique approach to writing emphasized in all "Writing" courses offered in English and Communications/Mass media, e.g. ENG 100, 101 207, 320, and 323.

Location: Trustee’s Classroom Building RM 375

Operating Hours: Mon-Thurs 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Lab Attendant) 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. (Lab Attendant), 9 p.m - 11:00 p.m. (No Lab Attendant) and Friday 8a.m. - 5 p.m. (Lab Attendant); Sat 1-5 p.m. (No Lab Attendant) and Sunday 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. (No Lab Attendant).

Availability: Open to all Faculty, Staff and Students

Computers Available: 21 Computers and 1 printer

Software: Windows XP, and Office 2007 Suite

Assistance: Lab Assistance is available for Creating email/network accounts, questions, login and printing problems

Wireless Access: Not currently available


Davis Memorial Library

Computers Accounts: Computer accounts are obtained from the CAC computer lab in the Trustees Classroom Building room 375

Trustees Classroom Building (Education)

Overview: The EDU lab provides services both to the Education and Communication Departments. The Education department instructs future teachers in the techniques of using modern audio/visual equipment in the classroom. The Communications department uses the lab to teach web page design and Internet technology, desktop publishing, 3-D Animation, and other multimedia applications.

Location: Trustee’s Classroom Building RM 370

Operation Hours: Same as the CAC Lab

Availability: Open to all students, Faculty and Staff

Computers Available: 15 Computers and 1 printer

Software: Windows XP, Office 2007 Suite, Hotdog6 Professional, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Pagemaker, Lightwave 3-D, Crystal 3-D Impact, and RFTP.

Assistance: Lab Assistance is available only for login related problems. If you have problems go next door to the CAC Lab in room 375. Other assistance in the lab is provided by the instructors when present.

Margaret & Walter Clark Hall

Overview:The lab is used for classes and is also open for students to use between scheduled classes.

Location: Margaret & Walter Clark Hall, Room 119

Operating Hours: Generally Mon - Fri between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Weekend hours vary depending on student worker schedules.

Availability: Open to all students, Faculty and Staff, except during scheduled class.

Computers Available: 22 Computers and 1 printer.

Software: Windows XP, Office 2007 Suite, SPSS software, Peachtree accounting software, Scorecast.

Assistance: None

D. Keith Allison Hall (Math & Computer Science Building) Lab 1

Overview: This lab is equipped primarily to facilitate the teaching of computer literacy classes. Students have their hands-on experience with word-porcessing, spreadsheet, database management and software presentations.

Location: D. Keith Allison Hall Room 115

Operating Hours: The lab is used primarily for holding computer literacy classes, Mon - Fri between 8 a.m. and 10:40 p.m. It is open to students when classes are not in session.

Availability: For students taking CSC courses and Math students who need access to the Mathematical software.

Computers Available: 21 Computers and 1 printer.

Software: Windows XP, Office XP Pro Suite, Visual Basic and VC++, Interix, JFlap, PCSpim--MIPS Simulator, Software engineering tools, and Maple software.

Assistance: Assistance only available during class time.

D. Keith Allison Hall (Math & Computer Science Building) Lab 2

Overview: This lab is equipped primarily to facilitate the teaching of computer science major courses. It provides the software tools necessary for computer science majors to complete their programming and other hands-on projects

Location: D. Keith Allison Hall Room 117

Operating Hours: The lab is used primarily for holding computer upper-level computer science major courses, Mon - Fri between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is used for evening CSC courses as well Mon - Fri between 5:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. It is open to students when classes are not in session.

Availability: For students taking CSC courses and Math students who need access to the Mathematical software.

Computers Available: 16 Computers and 1 printer.

New Science Building Lab 1

Overview: Room 242 computer lab is used to support for General Chemistry students to collect and analysis data for experiments. Room 204a computer lab is used for upper level chemistry courses, data analysis and chemistry tutorials. Room 207-a computer lab is used for upper chemistry experiments and the running of chemistry instruments.

Location: New Science Building Rooms 242

Operating Hours: Mon-Fri between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The labs are closed Sat and Sun.

Availability: For chemistry faculty and students only

Computers Available: Available: 10 computers and 1 printer.

Software: Windows XP, Office, and Chemistry tutorials

Wireless Access: Not currently available


New Science Building Lab 2

Overview: Room 248 computer lab is used to support for General Chemistry students to collect and analysis data for experiments. New Science Building (Graphic Design Lab)

Overview: The B.F.A. in Graphic Design program is for all Design Studio and Imaging courses: AGD 200, 201, 202, 300, 302, 303, 305, 400, 401, and 402.

Location: Science Building Room 236

Operating Hours: The lab is available to students currently enrolled in the Graphic Design Studio courses liste above. The combination lock is reprogrammed each semester which allows 24/7 access, as most time is spent on projects will be outside of the classroom.

Availability: Available Only for graphic design majors. Students will need a login access created by the Computer Services Department when submitted by the graphic design instructor(s).

Computers Available: 8 iMacs, 2 Mac Pros (one for faculty), Epson scanner, color printer, laser printer (black and white).

Software: MAC OS 10.x, Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium, Apple Final Cut Studio, Apple iLife Suite, Adobe Open Type font library, Extensis Suitcase. Office, Internet Explorer 6.x, and Chemistry tutorials

Assistance: Faculty assistance during classes only.

Wireless Access: Not currently available


Medical Science Building

Overview: Enables the PA Student access to conduct research, access to Blackboard and compose notes.

Location: Medical Science Building, Room 202.

Operating Hours: Mon - Fri between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Availability: The lab is only available for PA Students

Computers Available: Four Computers and one printer

Software: Windows XP and Office 2007 Suite

Assistance: Limited staff assistance

Wireless Access: Available both downstairs and upstairs


Trustees Classroom Building (Psychology)

Overview: The Psychology Laboratory at Methodist University enables students to carry out reserch projects, utilize SPSS, and review tutorials for various courses in the department.

Location: Trustee’s Classroom Building RM 106

Operating Hours: Mond-Thurs 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. The lab is open in the evening on an "As Needed" basis (e.g. when students are preparing to present papers at local conferences, extended hours may be needed.

Availability: Psychology Faculty, Staff, and Students are given priority.

Computers Available: 4 Computers and 2 printers

Software: Windows XP, and Office 2003 Suite, SPSS

Assistance: Lab Assistance is available for using the computers

Wireless Access: Not currently available
