Requirements for Degree Programs in Political Science

Political Science offers degree programs in either a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree. Political Science students can major in one of six different degree programs. Click on the links below to review the degree requirements for each program.

Requirements for the B.S. in Political Science

Requirements Summary: 39 semester hours including a Foundation Core of 21 semester hours and 18 semester hours of Professional Political Science electives.

Foundation Core Courses: 21 semester hours.

PSC 1510 American National Government
PSC 2100 Research Methods in Political Science
PSC 2270 Comparative Politics
PSC 3330 Public Administration
PSC 3410 Congress and the Presidency
PSC 3510 International Relations
PSC 4600 Senior Seminar
One Statistics course (either SOC 220, PSY 250, ECO 216, or MAT 220)

Professional Electives: Any 18 semester hours of other Political Science courses not already taken in the Foundation Core.


Requirements for B.S. in Political Science with a Concentration in International Relations

Requirements Summary: 42 semester hours including a Foundation Core of 21 semester hours and 21 semester hours of International Relations courses.
