Did you know that 80% of the Class of 2012 is interested
in Studying Abroad?
Many of the students surveyed said that money/expenses "greatly affected"
their desire and ability to go abroad and that they also worried about their
sports participation and about graduating on time.
Does MU offer opportunities to
study abroad?
You can study abroad and get credit for the course work in some classes. MU
exchanges allow students to pay tuition and fees at MU and receive credit toward
their degrees at MU (be sure to check with your individual academic advisor
or the office of STUDY ABROAD for details). MU has exchange agreements with
universities in Mexico, France, Northern Ireland, and is also an exchange partner
with CONAHEC member institutions in Canada, Mexico, Korea, Iceland and several
Latin American countries. Read more about study abroad opportunities below and
in our brochure.
Why study abroad?
Study Abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with benefits that go far
beyond academic learning. Students develop relevant intercultural communication
and problem-solving skills. They develop confidence, flexibility, independence,
and a new appreciation for diversity. An international learning experience strengthens
career opportunities and increases awareness of the interconnected nature of
the world.

Financial Aid Information for Studying Abroad
Student loans and parent loans follow students abroad (if they are eligible
of course).
www.borenawards.org
- focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical
to U.S. national security, broadly defined, and underrepresented in study
abroad.
Students should download the information on the courses they would take
in whatever program they choose to pursue abroad.
They need to bring the courses/descriptions to the Registrar's for review.
The Registrar will review the courses, in conjunction with the appropriate
department head (ex. if the course is an English course, the Registrar would
see the head of the English department) to determine course equivalency or
transferability of courses.
Any course that is transferable will be given a grade of pass/fail.
