Food Services

Methodist University has announced that it will change its food service provider for the coming academic year from Sodexo to Aramark, a national company that is the largest food service provider to universities in the Carolinas. Click here to visit Aramark's Web site for MU Food Services!

Due to this change, the University announced several improvements to be in place by the fall:

  • There will be a $1 million renovation to the food service areas in the Berns Student Center over the summer, including the Green and Gold Café and the Lion's Den. This will include a "fresh look" with new furnishings.
  • New brands in the Lion's Den will include a full-service Starbucks, a Chick-fil-A Express, and "The Wedge," a deluxe salad made to order concept.
  • There will also be a "Grab and Go" convenience store with prepackaged food.
  • One of the new Green and Gold options will be a Mongolian grill.
  • Students will benefit from a new "Monarch Dollars Program" connected to their meal plans to purchase pizzas from a national chain and to use at a number of campus locations.
  • Hours of operation will be increased.

Methodist University president Ben Hancock announced that even with all of these improvements, there will be no increase in the 2013-14 established meal plan rates. "Our commitment to the campus community and to students in particular is to provide increased value, more variety and better service," Hancock said.
