The Fayetteville Rotary Club is scheduled to award the William P. Lowdermilk Student Achievement Awards at a special banquet meeting of the club to be held on March 25, 2013. This year's competition will offer up to eight combined cash and MU scholarship awards. The awards are listed below:

Each of the eight recipients will also receive a framed certificate and special gift from the Fayetteville Rotary Club.

To be considered for selection, a student must first meet the criteria outlined in the body of this memorandum. In addition to meeting the criteria, a student must be formally nominated by any current member of Methodist University's faculty or staff. A nomination form is included. The deadline to submit nominations is February 15, 2013 by 5:00PM. Nominations received after this deadline will not be considered. All completed nomination packages must be submitted to:

Please feel free to contact Mrs. Pope should you have any questions concerning the award. To be eligible for the 2013 Lowdermilk Awards, your application must be received by February 15, 2013 at 5 p.m.

Criteria for the William P. Lowdermilk Student Achievement Award

William P. Lowdermilk Student Achievement Awards are presented annually by the Fayetteville Rotary Club to up to eight deserving Methodist University students. The original award was established in 1995 by the Board of the Fayetteville Rotary Club to honor Dr. William P. Lowdermilk for his long and honorable service to Rotary and to Methodist College.

The awards will be presented to students who meet the following criteria:

1. Students who practice the objectives of Rotary in their daily life:
   1. the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service
   2. high ethical standards
   3. the application of the "service above self" ideal
   4. the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace;
2. Students who are full-time Methodist University students who have completed a minimum of 63 semester hours or a maximum of 100 semester hours as of the completion the fall 2012 semester;
3. Students who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 as of the completion of the fall 2012 semester;
4. Students who provide exemplary community-type service to Methodist University, the Fayetteville/Cumberland County community, or the global community;
5. Students who demonstrate, by action and deed, high ethical standards and spiritual values in his/her educational, professional and personal life;
6. Students who have made themselves familiar with the life and contributions that Dr. William P. Lowdermilk made to the then-Methodist College Community.
