Dr. Deirdre R. Jackson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor with over 25 years of experience in the field of Human Growth and Development. She earned a Ph.D. in Counseling/Counselor Education and Supervision from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, an M.A. in Counseling and Guidance from Xavier University of Louisiana, and a B.A. in Psychology from Dillard University. In addition to being licensed in four states, she holds a Certification in Crisis Prevention, Intervention and Teamwork Training, and was formally trained by the National Coalition Building Institute International, an institution “rooted in an understanding of individual, community and systemic change.”
She has served in a variety of positions, including, but not limited to, Executive Director, Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, Program Director and Assistant University Professor in the states of Louisiana, Illinois and Tennessee. She also had her own private practice in Nashville, TN, and at one time hosted both a television talk show and radio call-in show.
Her areas of interest include relationship issues, personal growth and development, stress and anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, as well as general life transition issues. Immediately prior to joining the Counseling Center staff at Methodist University, she served as the Clinical Program Director for an out-patient behavioral health agency in New Orleans, La., the city of her birth.
