Parents in search of a free, family-friendly event that will not only keep their children entertained – but also stimulate their young minds – look no further than Methodist University’s Education Extravaganza!

On Saturday, April 9 from 1-4 p.m. at MU, all families are invited to the fun-filled event that will take place in the Hendricks Science Complex parking lot and inside the Nimocks Fitness Center.

More than 100 volunteers from the Fayetteville community will host various hands-on activities and learning areas including a bounce house, line dancing, therapy dogs, beekeepers, rocks and minerals exploration, Robo Dojo, Fayetteville Police and Fire Departments, a “Name Your Price” game from Food Lion, and more.

“It gives children a wide variety of different subjects to learn about,” said Gloria Peuster, co- organizer of the event and adjunct instructor at MU. “It gives kids a chance to learn things in a very fun way.”

What makes this year’s Education Extravaganza even more special is it will finally bring people back together in person after it was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 450 attended the inaugural Education Extravaganza in 2019.

“This event is important for Methodist because it not only brings awareness to the Education Department, but it promotes all of the university’s programs,” added Maryanne Hickson, the department’s administrative assistant and co-organizer of the event.

The Education Extravaganza is free, and no pre-registration or tickets are required. For questions, contact Peuster at gpeuster@methodist.edu.

Gracious donors who provided funds to help facilitate MU putting on this event for the community include: D&J Auto Repair, D&J Inflatables, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Real Estate Law Firm, Restore, and Mortgage Source.
