Academic Advising

Your Academic Advisor is your main point of contact for questions about your course schedules and your progress to degree. Students can locate academic advisor information by accessing the “Advising” tab on the myMU portal.

Scroll down to the “Advisor Information” section. In this section, the Advisor Name, Advisor Type (Temporary, Major, Exploratory, MAAP), and Advisor Email Address are displayed.

  1. Students in their first semester (freshmen and transfer) work with advisors to create their first-semester schedule (Temporary).
  2. Continuing students have faculty advisors in their majors (Major).
  3. Students who have not yet declared a major are assigned to an advisor from the Academic Services team who will assist them in scheduling and selecting a major (Exploratory)
  4. Students who have been accepted to the Methodist Academic Achievement Program are provided an advisor from the Academic Services team for their first two semesters (MAAP).

If you need help finding a fall semester schedule that will allow you to complete your coursework remotely because of Covid-19 health concerns, please send a request to Dr. Tina Miller ( Dr. Miller will work with Academic Advisors to do everything possible to provide a remote schedule that keeps you on your degree path, but options may be limited.
