Culture of Reading at DML

Get Between the Covers!
Improving student reading skills by developing a culture of reading

Looking for a good book to read for fun?

Most of our popular fiction can be found in the call numbers 813.54, 813.6, 823.914, and 823.912. They have red fiction stickers to help them stand out from those oh-so-important but sometimes less-than-exciting classics of literature.

If you would like to suggest a title or author, email us to let us know what you would like!

Comics!!! I mean, Graphic Novels!!!

Our graphic novels and comics still have their own space – on the movable shelving unit facing the Bell Tower. Check ’em out for great illustrations combined with compelling stories.

About the Culture of Reading program

“Get Between the Covers! Improving Student Reading Skills by Developing a Culture of Reading” was the theme of Methodist University’s first-ever Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges requires every member institution to develop and implement a QEP. Methodist University has developed the next QEP, but the successful portions of the Culture of Reading Program – reading circles, popular fiction and non-fiction in the library, book exchange racks, contests, and programs – will continue.
