The eleventh annual Miss Methodist Pageant will be held Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, in Huff Concert Hall at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public, and admission costs are $5 for adults or $3 for children under 12. Admission is free to Methodist University students, faculty, and staff.
“The pageant is planned, directed and produced by students in the Student Activities Committee,” said Doris Munoz, associate dean of students and director of student involvement. “This year, we have a diverse group of 14 amazing women participating.”
The contestants will be judged on their performance in the pageant’s opening number, talent, interview, and formal wear categories. There will also be a People’s Choice component, where the audience can vote for their favorites by making donations during intermission. All money raised through ticket sales and the People’s Choice contest will go to MU’s Play4Kay fundraiser.
“The great thing about our pageant is that it is open for all MU students to participate in,” Munoz said. “Our goal for the pageant is for everyone to have fun doing it.”
There will also be entertainment from MU’s Noblemen Choir and Miss Methodist 2016, Tracie Taylor. At the end of the night, Tracie will pass her title to another MU woman.
