Doo Lee, a graphic designer at Methodist University, recently won an American Inhouse Design Award from Graphic Design USA. Graphic Design USA’s American Inhouse Design Awards is the original showcase for outstanding work by in-house designers. This year, more than 5,000 entries were submitted.

The concept of the ad is an engineering drawing. The graphic shows the dimensions and measurements of the University’s logo on graph paper with a compass. The engineering program at Methodist University welcomed its first class in the fall of 2016, so at the time Lee designed the ad, he had no images or graphics related to the program for the design.

“I was really happy with the ad concept since the graphic clearly implies that MU offers an engineering program,” he said.

Lee was awarded with a certificate of excellence for his design. The award is the first print ad design awarded to Methodist University.

A 2014 graduate of Methodist University, Lee earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. He has worked at the University as a campus photographer and graphic designer since 2015.

“This award is very special to me,” Lee said. “I am really proud of myself as one of the MU graphic design alumni because it is evidence that our graphic design program provided me a strong education in this field. I love working with our students, professors, and staff. I am also really appreciative of Roxana Ross, the director of Marketing and Communications, who supervised and fully supported me in the design concept.”
