Dear Methodist University Community,
While many schools across the country closed their doors and turned to remote learning months ago because of the spread of COVID-19 on their campuses, the Methodist University community has been vigilant, working with health care officials and maintaining guidelines that have afforded us a valuable on-campus learning environment this fall.
Now, we need to finish out the final couple of weeks of the 2020 Fall Semester on campus in the same, resilient, safety-first manner. Thus, effective tomorrow (Nov. 13) at 5 p.m., we will adhere to the governor of North Carolina’s recent executive order and limit indoor gatherings to 10 or less. Outdoor gathering limits remain at 50 or less.
The only exceptions to this policy will be for classes – from which contact tracing has shown no COVID spread because of strict distancing protocols – and athletics, which has its own detailed set of safety guidelines for gatherings and activities.
Please continue to comply with room-capacity limits – as some are lower than 10 – and always wear a mask and practice social distancing regardless of event (indoor or outdoor).
Remember, it only takes a few who don’t comply to jeopardize the health of everyone else. Let’s continue to care for one another, hold each other accountable, and move Forward Together.
Sincerely,
Stanley T. Wearden, Ph.D.
President
