Phased Return to Work Begins June 8

To All Employees:

As previously communicated, University Administration and the Epidemic Response Team (ERT) have been working to finalize a “Reopen Plan” for the University to provide a gradual return to work of our employees. Effective June 8, the University will implement its phased return to work plan.

Please see attached for some important general guidance regarding staffing, social distancing, expectations prior to returning to campus, expectations while on campus, etc. It follows the suggested guidance of the Centers for Disease and Control and the State of North Carolina public health department to keep our campus community safe. Also attached is a detailed guide created by the ERT that provides additional, more specific guidance. All employees will be expected to review both the general guidance and the detailed guide to become familiar with all requirements associated with reporting back to work on campus. You will find both of these guides on the Methodist University’s COVID-19 page on the University website. Additional guidance will be provided from Human Resources early next week regarding policies on COVID Leave and reporting of time. Throughout the summer session, faculty are permitted on campus, but are encouraged to work remotely as much as possible. While on campus, faculty are required to follow all of the guidelines in the attached return to work guide.

As part of keeping our campus community safe and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, every employee will be required to complete a short health questionnaire prior to their first day of work back on campus and at other intervals as indicated in the guide. Please ensure you review the symptom monitoring and health questionnaire requirement sections in the detailed guide very closely. There are some of you who have worked during the stay-at-home order in a limited capacity to provide essential services. For those employees who have reported to work on campus prior to the University scheduled return to work date of June 8, you must complete the health questionnaire as soon as possible and prior to your next scheduled time on campus to meet the initial baseline assessment requirement. Due to the evolving situation with COVID-19, University Administration and the ERT will continue to monitor, assess and provide guidance as we progress through various stages of re-opening. Any changes to these guidelines will be communicated. As previously communicated, there are also ongoing plans for re-opening in the fall for in-person classes, athletics and on-campus activities. ERT, Academic Affairs and Residential Life are preparing for the fall to ensure the safety and well-being of our campus community and plans will be forthcoming as they are developed and are more concrete. Of course, all decisions will be contingent upon and adjusted as needed in accordance with the evolving situation with COVID-19 and public health in the state of North Carolina and in the Fayetteville Community.

If you have questions or concerns after reviewing the guidelines, please reach out to your supervisor, Human Resources or the Director of the Health Center (for questions/concerns related to illness). The best way to reach these individuals, for a timely response, is via email. In accordance with guidance, we will be alternating time spent in the office and may not always have ready access to our office phones.
