Methodist University students are making both a global and a local impact. Our community engagement program seeks service-learning opportunities in which collaboration will lead to long-term solutions.

We have multiple mission trips each year that span from downtown Fayetteville to Haiti or Costa Rica.

Missions and service programs go hand in hand, addressing humanitarian needs large and small, as well as seeing and responding to the crucial role each of us plays in the local community.

International

Our international missions allow Monarchs to form long-term global community partnerships, experience the richness of various cultures, and also offer the “good kind of tired” that comes from exhaustion for the sake of others. If you have a heart for both faithful service and adventure and would like to be a valued member of the Methodist University team, contact Ruth Carr (rcarr@methodist.edu or 910.630.7157)

National

Going “into all the world” includes those next door, too. Domestic missions and service-learning programs offer opportunities to gain awareness of and meet the needs that exist right here in the USA. Our domestic work allows students to be the hands and feet of hope while developing close-knit friendships with peers, faculty, and staff. If you have a desire to serve off-campus, but not overseas, this is the place for you! Contact Ruth Carr (rcarr@methodist.edu or 910.630.7157) for more details.

Local

Recurring service projects allow our students to assist, build and partner within the Fayetteville community: blood drives, hurricane relief, assembly of emergency kits, aid to refugees, and more. Typically, relief kits and similar aid are assembled on campus. Varied opportunities abound. On a weekly basis throughout the academic year, MU students serve local elementary school students through the Methodist Kids Association CUBS tutoring program. Once a month, Monarchs also serve breakfast to low-income residents through a partnership with Operation Inasmuch. Contact Ruth Carr (rcarr@methodist.edu or 910.630.7157) for more information.
