As a professional, the late Dr. Frank P. Stout helped put a brighter smile on the faces of thousands in Cumberland County, and his legacy of generosity and care for his community will now continue to an even greater extent as his family has gifted $1.5 million to Methodist University.
“Having our PA buildings named in honor of Dr. Frank P. Stout could not be more apropos as both Dr. Stout and Methodist University’s PA Program are about service and science working together for the benefit of others,” said Methodist University President Stanley T. Wearden. “As ‘Dr. Frank’ was dedicated to the health and wellbeing of residents in our community, more than 70 percent of Methodist’s PA Program graduates remain after graduation to work professionally locally and throughout North Carolina.”
MU’s Physician Assistant Program (PA) – now in its 25th year – well represents the understanding of need and selfless contributions Stout shared as a lifelong Fayetteville resident, orthodontist, developer, and philanthropist.
“The Stout family and Methodist University have the same mission of continuing to positively influence our community,” said Mac Healy, Chair of the MU Board of Trustees. “We look forward to many more years of partnership with the Stout family to impact the lives of students and others in Cumberland County.”
The two newly named buildings at MU are the Dr. Frank P. Stout Physician Assistant Academic Building (classrooms, simulation exam rooms, student lounge, and faculty/administrative offices) and the Dr. Frank P. Stout Medical Lecture Hall (lecture hall and four breakout classrooms). These are two of the more than 50 buildings on the MU campus and sit about 500 yards from Joe W. Stout Hall (which houses the University’s Admissions Office and is named in honor of Dr. Stout’s father, a successful real estate developer in the area who was instrumental in the founding of the University).
“Our family supported the mission of Methodist University from the very beginning, my father served on the Board of Trustees, and our family continues to support MU because we all believe in the combination of dreaming and diligence that leads to success,” said Cameron “Cam” Stout, son of Dr. Frank and Carol Stout. “It’s an honor to know the thousands who pass by the PA buildings just off Ramsey Street each day – and certainly the students who enter them to study – will observe the name of a man who dedicated his life to helping others.”
MU Health Sciences & Human Services: Methodist University’s College of Health Sciences & Human Services serves hundreds of students each year pursuing undergraduate degrees in Nursing, Kinesiology, and Social Work; and graduate degrees and certification in Physician Assistant Studies, Healthcare Administration, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.
