Methodist University has adopted the theme Forward Together for its fall 2020 semester as students, faculty and staff return for in-person classes and hybrid education options Aug. 10.
A website, methodist.edu/forward, was created to not only encompass this theme, but provide information on how aspects of campus life will change to meet the safety standards set forth by the Center for Disease Control, expert opinion and Methodist University’s Epidemic Response Team.
“We created an Epidemic Response Team that has been working diligently for months to set up a unique student experience for the fall,” said Dr. Stanley Wearden, the university’s president. “The team has remained up to date on research and expertise concerning all facets of COVID-19. This research has informed the operational decisions that we’re excited to share with you.”
Dr. William Walker, vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students, spearheaded the team, which brought various department heads together to make decisions and recommendations on modified operations.
“Throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic, Methodist University has focused on the health and safety of the University community while continuing to provide a quality education that advances our students’ academic objectives,” Walker said. “On the ‘Forward Together’ website, you will find details about our planned return to campus, communications and other updates, and the principles guiding us toward a successful academic year.”
Some of these details include changes to food service on campus, the establishment of set entrances and exits to campus facilities, policies on socializing on campus and more.
