Dr. Danielle Felak

Bio:
Danielle Felak, OTD, OTR/L, is an assistant professor of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at Methodist University. She is nationally certified (NBCOT) and licensed to practice occupational therapy in North Carolina. She teaches courses on therapeutic communication and collaborative care, professional practice, psychosocial and mental health interventions, and fieldwork. Dr. Felak’s area of expertise lies within home health and community-based care, mental and behavioral health, and advocacy, legislation, and policy. She has worked in a variety of settings including home health, acute rehab, inpatient rehab, school-based, and inpatient behavioral health.
In addition to her academic position, Dr. Felak has served on the board of directors for state occupational therapy associations (POTA), focusing specifically on her role as Co-Chair of Mental Health Task Force and Commission on Practice (2019-2023). She has also attended countless events advocating for the role and scope of occupational therapy to key legislators. Currently, Dr. Felak is furthering this work as the Co-Chair of the Mental Health SIS (2025-2027) for NCOTA.
Dr. Felak received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Health Sciences, Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, and Doctor of Occupational Therapy at Misericordia University.
