Bio:

Dr. Janay Hagins is a nurse and public health professional committed to advancing health equity through education and community engagement. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Public Health Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in May 2025, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University, a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Good Samaritan College of Nursing.

Her professional background spans intensive care, progressive care, acute care, home health, and public health nursing. With over five years of nursing experience, she began her career during the global pandemic, caring for patients with COVID-19 and serving diverse populations across multiple care settings. Her doctoral project, “Diabetes Self-Management in Non-Traditional Settings: A Quality Improvement Project,” focused on empowering African American adults with type 2 diabetes through culturally responsive, community-based education.

At Methodist University, Hagins serves as Clinical Coordinator and Nursing Faculty, preparing future nurses to deliver evidence-based, compassionate care. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Outside of nursing, she enjoys reading across genres and crocheting.
