Bio:

Dr. Mayland C. Reilly is a highly accomplished medical education leader, curriculum development expert, and administrator with extensive experience spanning major U.S. medical schools and military Graduate Medical Education (GME) environments. Reilly specializes in designing and implementing complex medical curricula that align with educational best practices and LCME standards. Her research interests center on student burnout, specifically exploring mitigation through social connections and adjusting workload requirements

Reilly’s terminal degree is an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of West Georgia (May 2025). Her dissertation examined Supporting Medical Students: Does the Structure of the Learning Community have an impact on students’ sense of burnout?. She also holds an M.S. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania (May 2001) and a B.A. in Pre-Law with a minor in History from Penn State University (May 1992).

Her recent professional activity includes co-authoring a manuscript in preparation for Academic Medicine titled, “Relationships Between Burnout and Stress Among Medical Students and Workplace Factors in Medical Schools” which was presented at the AAMC Poster session in San Antonio, Nov 4, 2025. She also co-authored an article in the Canadian Medical Education Journal concerning education decision making at medical schools

Reilly is committed to community service, including teaching ESL and Civics at Clinica Latina, a free clinic for the underserved in Augusta, GA (2021-2023). She serves as the treasurer on the Board of Trustees for Asociación Latina de Servicios del CSRA, Inc. (ALAS), which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for medically underserved populations (2021-present). Reilly demonstrated significant leadership in her volunteer role as Administrative Director GME / UGME at the Red Cross / Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany (2012 –2020). She stood up a GME/UME office and expanded elective rotations from 24 to more than 50 annually by connecting with military residency programs and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Medical School (USUHS). She also coordinated CME for a NATO conferences in Poland and Ukraine. She received the Lifetime achievement award as a Red Cross Volunteer, 2017
