Bio:

Dr. Milton Pong received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Physiology and Biophysics in 1997. He studied the behavior and neural basis of the macaque pupillary light reflex. He continued his research career at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix Arizona and focused on motor control through the red nucleus, basal ganglia, and cerebellum. He started his medical education career at the A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona and spent 17 years teaching physiology and developing Clinical Presentation and Case-based Inquiry curricula. In his exploration of how to improve medical education, he most recently investigated how artificial intelligence can be used to leverage student success. Pong joined the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine in 2025.
