Bio:
Nicole Hodges, PT, DPT, PhD, ATC, is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. She primarily teaches Test and Measures, Biomechanics, Exercise Prescription, and Special Populations. Dr. Hodges’ research agenda includes pain science, pelvic health, and physical therapy. She has presented her research to state, national, and international audiences, including APTA NC, APTA Combined Section Meeting, American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting, The International Incontinence Society, the International Pelvic Pain Society, the International Urogynecological Association, and the World Congress and International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease. Dr. Hodges is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and serves as a committee member in the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy, a Pelvic Health and Test and Measure Outcome Measure Reviewer, an author of the upcoming CPG for pelvic girdle pain, and a peer reviewer for the APTA NC.
Dr. Hodges has worked as a physical therapist since 2001 in home health and sports medicine, and currently practices in pelvic health rehabilitation. Her work is published in the Journal of Allied Health, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, as well as the Bulletin of Physical Therapy Research and Studies. Dr. Hodges is currently investigating the interpretation of touch utilizing quantitative sensory examination and intervention with chronic pelvic pain conditions.
Dr. Hodges received her BS in Sports Medicine from Methodist College, MS in Physical Therapy from Armstrong Atlantic State University, Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Montana, and a PhD in Kinesiology from Concordia University. Dr. Hodges is licensed to practice physical therapy in North Carolina and is an American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy. Dr. Hodges is a certified athletic trainer. She has completed training in dry needling, occupational medicine, manual therapy, sports rehabilitation, nutrition, and holds a certificate in pelvic health.
