Dr. Steven Shen

Bio:

Steven Shen, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Foundational Sciences at Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine. Dr. Shen is an immunologist by training, and his interests include student mentorship and medical education.

Dr. Shen’s research expertise is centered on neuro-oncology, with a particular focus on developing CAR T cell therapies and investigating immunotherapeutics for brain tumors such as glioblastoma. Beyond his academic and research roles, Dr. Shen is a dedicated mentor to medical, graduate, and undergraduate students, guiding them through research projects and career development.

Dr. Shen earned his Ph.D. in Pathology from Duke University, where he also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neurosurgery. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Brown University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University Chicago.
