“What is not assumed is not healed.”
— Gregory of Nazianzus (AD 325 – AD 389)

I have been lucky enough to see the night sky from the top of a mountain in Arizona and fifty  miles out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on a moonless night. It is a sight to behold. Those moments felt sacred staring into a canopy of stars that seemed to speak of a Creator far beyond imagination. But the truth is, the night sky is beautiful anywhere if you take the time to behold it.

Respect what your Creator has created; it is unbelievable. And when you really regard it, you realize it’s unbelievable unless you believe that a God of unimaginable love made it for you.

That same God-the Maker of the stars-chose to enter His own creation. As Hebrews tells us, “Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity.” The God who hung the stars became a child beneath them. He came to experience life with us — to feel love, laughter, pain, and every emotion that makes us human. Emotion could never be sensed without consciousness and free will, and perhaps God knew that to redeem us fully, He had to experience our humanity fully.

His arrival on Earth was the most important event in human history. Yet, His arrival in your heart is just as important to Him. If you were the only person on the planet, He would have come the same way — born in a manger, carrying the same cross, dying and rising again for you alone. Because He has lived as you do, He understands what feels so hard in this life. He is our merciful and faithful High Priest, not distant but deeply near, able to help those who are being tested because He Himself was tested.

The stars still declare His glory, but the greatest wonder of all is that the Creator of those stars stepped into our story, so that we might never walk in darkness again.

Prayer: Lord, Maker of the stars and Friend of our hearts, thank You for drawing near to us in Jesus and knowing our humanity fully. Help us walk in Your light with gratitude, wonder, and trust—today and always. Amen.
