The 5th Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place on the campus of Methodist University April 11-13. The event is free to attend, and open to the public. MU students, faculty, and staff members will be sharing their research and creativity throughout the symposium.
The 5th Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place on the campus of Methodist University April 11-13. The event is free to attend, and open to the public. MU students, faculty, and staff members will be sharing their research and creativity throughout the symposium.
“One of the highlights of the academic year is the Undergraduate Research Symposium and related activities that involve our undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty,” said Dr. Ben Hancock, President. “It places emphasis on scholarly endeavors, and showcases the collaborative work within our University community.”
The Symposium will begin Monday, April 11, with various faculty presentations at 11 a.m. Students from the university’s four graduate programs will present their research in the PA Auditorium from 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Advanced poetry students will present “Five Poets, Ten Poems: The Voices of ENG/WRI 4850” on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the PA Auditorium. A reception will follow the poetry readings.
Symposium day will be held Wednesday, April 13, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The main event of the week, the symposium will begin with a reception at 8:30 a.m., followed by morning lecture sessions by research scholars from various majors and disciplines across the campus. At 1 p.m., a special presentation, “Cape Fear New Music Festival Concert” will take place in Reeves Fine Arts Building, room G5. The presentation will feature three MU faculty members, Dr. Michael Potts, Dr. Keith Dippre, and Professor Kerry Jenkins. Following the conclusion of the presentation, afternoon lectures and poster presentations will take place from 2 – 3:30 p.m. A university awards ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m.
