Methodist University held its Wellness Way: Life Skills & Wellness Fair this week, offering students a chance to strengthen their personal, professional, and physical well-being. Hosted by MU’s Health & Counseling Services at The Well, the series of sessions drew attention to skills that students can carry into the classroom, workplace, and beyond campus.

The Wellness Way FairFor Mark Gronski, director of Health & Counseling Services, the fair represents the University’s broader mission to develop well-rounded students.

“What we’re trying to offer with this is to be able to help support overall well-being and help students develop skills that are going to be successful not just here on campus, but also beyond,” he said. “It’ll support them not only in their academic careers, but also in their future careers beyond MU.”

The events covered topics from financial literacy and peer communication to career readiness and health resources. Alashay Cooler, coordinator of Health & Counseling Services, said that students gravitated strongly toward Wednesday’s Skills Day, which provided professional development tools.

“The skills fair had the most student participation,” she said, “because a lot of students need help in areas like resume building and practicing interviews.”

Thursday’s sessions tied the week together with both the immunization clinic, aimed at making sure students are in compliance with the University’s requirements, and the Food Drive in support of the Lion’s Share Food Pantry on campus. Overall, these events highlighted MU’s dedication to student growth from career prep to community care.
