Dear Methodist University Community,
With heartfelt sorrow, we are writing to inform you that one of our students, Peter Armstrong (19), has passed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
As the Police Department and Coroner’s Office are currently performing an investigation, MU cannot provide any information due to privacy laws and concerns. We encourage you to offer grace and care to one another and let your faculty and staff know whenever you need help or support.
Please keep Peter’s family/friends/classmates in your thoughts, respect their privacy, and be mindful of comments on social media (recognizing that any communications could be insensitive and painful to the family, friends, and close contacts). Further, these communications could be mistaken for authoritative statements of fact or official University messages. For this reason, MU will not respond to social media messaging on this topic. If anyone reaches out to you for official MU communications, please direct them to our Marketing & Communications Office ([email protected]).
Continue to take care of yourselves and all fellow Monarchs. We will share additional details when appropriate, in accordance with the wishes of the family, as they become available.
Sincerely,
Stanley T. Wearden, Ph.D.
