Members of the Methodist University ROTC program – including battalion captain Sylvester Odjede, Kathleen McNeill, and Scott Mastrolia – were a part of the battalion that finished in first place at the U.S. Army Ranger Challenge Competition at Fort AP Hill (Va.).

The battalion – which had members from MU, Fayetteville State, UNC Pembroke, and Campbell – competed against 40 other schools and more than 400 soldiers. Teams compete in events such as Rifle Marksmanship, Grenade Assault, Orienteering, Land Navigation, Physical Fitness tests, and more. Cadets were competing for the opportunity to represent their brigade and the U.S. Army Cadet Command at the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition held in April at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
