When Chloe Mukibi ’28 began her college search from Kampala, Uganda, she knew she didn’t want cold and snowy winters. What she wanted was warmth, both in weather and people. What she found at Methodist University was just that: a warm, welcoming community that felt like home from the very first meeting with Admissions. Now a Business Management major, Mukibi is paying the experience forward, one group chat at a time. As MU’s official ZeeMee Student Ambassador, she’s the go-to guide for incoming Monarchs.
“I’m a UWC Davis scholar, so I had the opportunity to apply to schools in the U.S.,” Mukibi said. “I chose Methodist because it felt like a place where I’d be supported from Day 1, and that’s been true every step of the way.”
Now a Business Management major, Mukibi is paying the experience forward, one group chat at a time. As MU’s official ZeeMee Student Ambassador, she’s the go-to guide for incoming Monarchs.
A Digital Welcome Committee
ZeeMee is a social platform built to help prospective and incoming students connect with both each other and the University before ever stepping foot on campus. The app offers a space where students can ask questions, connect with roommates, meet classmates, and learn about campus life, all in one app.
“It’s like Instagram for college,” Mukibi said. “But instead of just pictures, you’re finding people with similar interests, talking to current students, and learning about your future home in a way that feels personal and fun.
As ZeeMee ambassador, Mukibi spends time each day answering questions, sharing polls, posting videos, photos, and engaging with new students on the app.
“I want students to feel seen, heard, and excited,” she said. “Whether it’s a poll about what sport they play or a video showing off our residence halls, it’s about creating that sense of connection.”
As students move further through the admissions process, the app filters them into more specific communities, like “admitted students” or “members of the incoming class.”
Inside the Monarch Chat
The energy on ZeeMee is anything but quiet and exactly what you’d expect from a group of Monarchs: engaging, enriching, and empowering.
“People are hyped! They’re counting down the days until move-in, asking about what to pack, and even sharing which residence hall they’re in,” Mukibi said.
Current students often jump into the chat to offer advice and share personal experiences.
“They love MU and want others to feel that, too,” she said. “That makes the app even more powerful because it’s real.”
One day, the ZeeMee ambassador is posting residence hall room tips. The next, she’s sharing a video about things to do in Fayetteville. The result is a steady chat thread of casual and authentic conversations that help students find where they already belong.
A Platform for Growth
Mukibi initially saw ZeeMee as a way to help others, but it has also helped her learn about herself.
“I’m studying Business Management, but I’m starting to love marketing so much that I might even change my major,” she said.
Before coming to MU, Mukibi ran a business in Uganda and used Instagram to promote her brand. However, marketing a university through a live, chat-based platform has been a different challenge altogether.
“It’s shown me what I’m good at, and what I still need to grow into,” she said. “It’s been exciting, and I’m really thankful the Admissions team trusted me with this role.”
A Warm Welcome from Chloe
The real beauty of ZeeMee, Mukibi said, is that it helps new Monarchs feel like they belong before their first semester even starts.
“Welcome, welcome, and we’re looking forward to having you!” she said on the app.
Whether it’s finding a friend who shares a love of anime, asking about what to bring for a college room, getting a feel for what MU life is like, or getting over the nerves of starting college, the chat is open, and chances are Mukibi is already there — in the chat, ready to give a big Monarch hello.
