Faculty Development Opportunities

Faculty Affairs & Faculty Development Office

Career Lifecycle Planning

The Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development Office of the School of Medicine supports faculty vitality through programs and initiatives that foster career growth, skill development, and work-life balance. Our efforts span the academic, clinical, and research missions, ensuring faculty are equipped to thrive and contribute meaningfully.

Through mentorship, leadership development, and opportunities for continuous learning, the Faculty Affairs and Development Office ensures that faculty are supported in their academic, clinical, and research roles, fostering an environment where they can thrive and contribute to the institution’s success. We understand that investing in faculty development is essential for fostering a thriving academic environment and advancing the field of health system science.

We use the Faculty Career Management Life Cycle Model as a guiding framework, addressing faculty needs across four key stages: recruitment and onboarding, early career development, mid-career growth, and late-career transition. This lifecycle approach allows us to provide targeted support, from mentoring and leadership training to retirement planning.

All faculty development programs and offerings are continuously evaluated and refined based on faculty feedback and input from institutional leaders, such as department chairs, center directors, and SOM and Health System leadership. This ensures our programs remain responsive, impactful, and aligned with institutional goals.
