Emergency & Safety Resources

Active Shooter Awareness

It is an unfortunate fact that shooting incidents occur on college and university campuses of all types and sizes. In an effort to help the Methodist University community more effectively prepare for and, if necessary, respond to an active shooter incident, the following information has been prepared.

Severe Weather Preparedness

The National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning when a tornado or other potentially dangerous weather has been sighted or detected on radar in the local area. The University’s Public Alert Warning System (MUPAWS) will be activated when a warning of severe weather that may reach the Methodist University campus is received.

Winter Weather Preparedness

When winter storms approach, these are tips to keep you safe.

Personal Safety

Personal safety is everyone’s responsibility! The Department of Public Safety welcomes all opportunities to partner with other members of the community in making Methodist University a safer and more secure place to live, learn, work, and grow.

Property Crime Deterrence

Like many other colleges and universities, theft of personal property is by far the most common type of criminal incident reported on our campus. The Department of Public Safety is committed to deterring these incidents, investigating those that occur, and whenever possible prosecuting anyone who engages in this criminal behavior.
