Three Methodist University students are the recipients of a scholarship from the local chapter of a non-profit organization.
The North Carolina Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA) recently divided $5,000 in scholarship funds to the following students:
- Nathan Boyles (Criminal Justice, Freshman)
- Allye Carter (Pre-Nursing, Sophomore)
- Jeremiah Ramsey (Business Administration, Freshman)
All three full-time students are members of Methodist University’s Army ROTC program, which prepares college students to become officers and leaders of character in the Total Army. As a part of the agreement for the donation from AFCEA, Methodist University ROTC instructors selected the recipients (after screening for financial need) based on the commitment to their degrees and their participation in the Army ROTC program.
“The North Carolina Chapter of the AFCEA is critically interested in the encouraging the development of the next generation of STEM practitioners,” said Marv Gordner, chapter president of the North Carolina Chapter of the AFCEA. “It’s a privilege to contribute to the education of such deserving MU students. We wish them the very best for their college experiences and their careers.”
The scholarship will be awarded annually by the North Carolina Chapter of the AFCEA, which includes more than 350 technology professionals across several technology communities in the Fort Liberty and Fayetteville area. The international non-profit organization is dedicated to increasing knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications, and electronics for defense, homeland security, and intelligence communities.
