The No. 1 team in the nation was in 19th place after the first round but clawed its way back for the largest comeback in program history at the national tournament.
The fourth and final round started early this morning before a weather delay forced everyone off the course. Following a noon resumption, Methodist briefly dropped to second place but then reclaimed the top spot after finishing the tournament with a score of 23-over par 1,175.
The Monarchs had to sweat it out before being crowned national champions, as Methodist had a two-stroke lead and Illinois Wesleyan University still had about 20 holes remaining in the round. However, the Titans could not close the gap and fell more behind, by five strokes.
