This Veterans and Military Appreciation Week, Methodist University is being recognized as one of the best colleges for veterans in the entire nation.

Military Times, an independent news source for members of the U.S. military and their families, recently listed Methodist University on its 2023 “Best for Vets” colleges list – a recurring honor for MU.

“It is a great honor for Methodist University to be named a ‘Best for Vets’ institution once again – especially on Veterans and Military Appreciation Week,” said Randy Smith, director of Veteran Services at MU. “This well-respected designation speaks to MU’s dedication to our nation’s heroes and our efforts to provide them with a top-notch education.”

Methodist University stands out with a caring Veterans Services staff that can help veterans, their spouses and children, and active-duty service members take advantage of the University’s affordable on-campus and online programs. MU also offers a variety of veteran services including, but not limited to:

  • An on-campus Student Veteran Center, a dedicated space for veterans and military-connected students
  • Career support at One Stop
  • Free access to Google’s professional certificates
  • MU chapter for “Student Veteran of America”
  • Annual Veterans Day events and activities

Junior Rachelle Corley, who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2025, came to MU after serving more than 20 years in the U.S. Army, which included two deployments to Iraq.

“I would recommend Methodist University to any veteran,” said Corley, who also serves as the president of MU’s chapter of the Student Veterans of America. “With the smaller class sizes, you won’t slip through the cracks and the professors care about the students. There’s also plenty of veterans on campus, which gives you a community of people that can help you out. There’s a family atmosphere here.”

The University is also well-regarded for its standing with active-duty service members, earning a “Gold-Level” ranking while being designated as a Military Friendly® University for the 2022-23 school year.
