Methodist University’s campus will be jam-packed with plenty of “Green and Gold” spirit as its 2022 Homecoming weekend kicks off this weekend for alumni from near and far.
Methodist University’s campus will be jam-packed with plenty of “Green and Gold” spirit as its 2022 Homecoming weekend kicks off this weekend for alumni from near and far.
Students, faculty, and staff have already begun to show off their Monarch pride during the with on-campus events like Homecoming Kickoff, Pie-an-RA, and an outdoor picnic.
However, MU’s Homecoming officially kicks off Friday, Oct. 21 with a variety of marquee events including an a welcome reception, campus tours, the Athletics Hall of Fame induction, and homecoming bonfire.
“There’s not a more perfect time to come back on campus if you’re MU alumni,” said Taylor Murphy, director of alumni relations. “Not only do alumni get a chance to reminisce and connect with current and past Monarchs, but they get a glimpse into Methodist University’s future. This year’s MU Homecoming will be one to remember.”
Homecoming will be even bigger on Saturday, Oct. 22 as events fill the schedule from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. While the signature events are the Alumni Awards ceremony, alumni tailgate, and the MU football and soccer games (highlighted below), here is a summary of Saturday’s events:
- Alumni association meeting (8 a.m. – Alumni Dining Room)
- Alumni headquarters (9 a.m.-2 p.m. – Outdoor basketball court)
- Campus Bookstore open (9 a.m.-5 p.m. – Berns Student Center)
- Campus tour (9 a.m. – Stout Hall)
- Chorale “Gathersing” (9 a.m. – Choral Room)
- PGA Golf Management ceremonial tee shot (9 a.m. – Downback Golf Course)
- Coffee social (9:30 a.m. – Alumni Dining Room)
- Alumni awards ceremony (10 a.m. – Alumni Dining Room)
- Women’s basketball alumni game (10 a.m. – Riddle Center)
- Alumni tailgate (11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Outdoor basketball court)
- Men’s basketball alumni game (11 a.m. – Riddle Center)
- Nursing tailgate party (11 a.m. – Chaffin Building)
- PGA Golf Management tailgate (11 a.m. – Parking lot near Davis Memorial Library)
- Fraternity and sorority life tailgates (11 a.m. – Parking lot near Davis Memorial Library)
- ’97 Football team reunion (11:30 a.m. – Football Field House Patio)
- Candlelight memorial service (11:30 a.m. – Matthews Ministry Center)
- Meet and greet with King (Noon – Victory Bell near Monarch Stadium)
- Football vs. Huntingdon (1 p.m. – Monarch Stadium)
- Men’s soccer vs. Brevard College (3 p.m. – Duggins Stadium)
- 30th reunion event (4 p.m. – Last Call Sports Bar)
- Women’s soccer vs. NC Wesleyan (6 p.m. – Duggins Stadium)
- Black Alumni Chapter event (6 p.m. – Heart & Soul Food and Lounge)
On Sunday morning, Oct. 23, Methodist University’s Homecoming will wrap up with a scholarship brunch hosted by Black Alumni Chapter.
