Methodist University has once again been recognized for its commitment to supporting those who serve.
Today, Military Friendly® − a national organization that ranks colleges across the country by measuring their commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunities for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families − named Methodist University a Gold-level Military Friendly® Institution for the 2026–27 academic school year. The Gold ranking is the highest designation given to institutions that offer military students resources, programs, and support.
For leadership in MU’s Military & Veteran Services Office, the award is a reflection of both the mission and the people behind the work.
“I am proud of our team,” said Rocio Serna, coordinator of Military & Veteran Services at Methodist University. “The staff at MU’s Military & Veteran Services are veterans who understand the unique challenges of serving while working toward their education and professional goals. This recognition is a reminder that we continuously aim to improve our services so we can best serve their needs.”
Serna also supports service members across the region through MU’s Fort Bragg Office, working onsite and directly with active-duty students and their families to explore potential degree programs and aid in the transition into college life.
The Military Friendly® gold ranking is one of multiple awards recognizing MU’s support for military-affiliated students, which includes being named a 2025 Best for Vets institution. Military-affiliated students access a variety of academic programs and support resources at MU, including:
- Access to online degree programs such as: Advanced Paramedicine, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and more.
- Certification of GI Bill benefits
- Yellow Ribbon Program
- Active-duty Tuition Assistance
- Green-to-Gold ROTC Program
- On-campus Military & Veteran Center
