What is a Methodist, Anyway?

Did you know that the Methodist movement began on a college campus? Join the Rev. Dr. Kelli W. Taylor, University Chaplain and Dean of Religious & Spiritual Life, along with MU students, for a fun and interactive session that explores the history of our namesake. In this engaging presentation, we’ll trace the origins of the Methodist movement, starting with John and Charles Wesley at Oxford University in 1720, and explore how their commitment to faith, community, and service continues to shape our campus and 117 other Methodist campuses around the world today. Parents and students alike will leave with a deeper understanding of the rich history and ongoing relevance of Methodism in both our university and beyond.

Monarchs on a Mission: 2025-27 Mission Trip Info Session and Mini-Project
11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., Matthews Chapel
Join us for an inspiring session that highlights the transformative power of mission trips. Hear firsthand from students and parents who have experienced the positive impact of serving others and discover how you can help your student embark on their mission journey. Ruth Carr, Director of Religious and Spiritual Life, will share the upcoming mission opportunities, benefits, and ways to support your student through fundraising and planning. The session will conclude with a hands-on mini mission project—living out the spirit of service together.
