One of the primary concerns of the university, as well as one of
its principle opportunities for service, is in the field of teacher
education. The university is committed to meeting the need for well-trained
and dedicated teachers. It recognizes teacher education as an institution-wide
responsibility. The unifying theme for all of the education programs
is the development of professional educators as facilitative teachers
who understand and value the process of learning.
Mission
Graduates of the Teacher Education Program will demonstrate content
knowledge and pedagogical skills to serve as effective teachers.
Goals
- Graduates of the Teacher Education Program will demonstrate

Program Approval: The Teacher
Education Program, approved by the North Carolina Department of
Public Instruction, provides courses of study for the following

NOTICE: The Secondary English
and Reading Add-On programs are currently inactive and are not accepting
new students at this time. The Science licensure program is being
phased out and is not accepting new students.

Program at Methodist University is in compliance with Title II of

Reciprocity: The North Carolina
teaching license is currently honored in twenty-nine states through
interstate reciprocity agreements and other states via NASDTEC (National
Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification.
