Formal Complaints

Any member of the Methodist University community can submit a report, grievance, or concern to the MU Title IX Office. However, before the Title IX Office can consider assigning a matter for investigation, in accordance with both law and policy, a Complainant must submit a specific document referred to as a Title IX Formal Complaint.

A Title IX Formal Complaint differs from any other grievance or report in that it must contain ALL of the following:

  1. Specific allegation(s) of Sexual Harassment
  2. A statement requesting that MU investigate the allegations under its Title IX Policy
  3. Signature of the Complainant (this can be digital)

Once submitted to the Title IX Office, the Formal Complaint will be reviewed, and the identified Respondent(s) will receive notification that a Formal Complaint was filed and the contents therein.
