Bio:

Grant Barker, currently the Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Methodist University, is also an active duty member of the 82nd Airborne Division Band at Fort Liberty, NC. He has been serving in the 82nd Airborne Division Band for three years. He is a substitute for the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Fayetteville Symphonic Band.

Prior to enlisting in the Army, Grant Barker lived in Greeley, Colo., where he received his Master of Music in Instrumental Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, where he studied with Philip Hembree and Dr. John Adler. While at the University of Northern Colorado, Mr. Barker was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the trumpet studio. He performed two seasons with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and was an active substitute in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, and the Boulder Symphony. He has performed as a semi-finalist for the solo and trumpet ensemble divisions of the National Trumpet Competition for three years and has coached an ensemble to the semi-finals of this competition. Mr. Barker received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he studied from John Rommel and Edmund Cord.
