Bio:

Dr. Larry Sugisaki teaches first-year writing and general writing courses at Methodist University. His research interests include topics related to disability studies, first-year writing, writing center studies, teaching English as a second language (TESOL), translingualism, and identity.

Sugisaki’s teaching experiences include teaching English in Aomori prefecture in Japan for three years at six different elementary schools. He also taught first-year writing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a graduate teaching assistant. Lastly, he worked at the Kathleen Jones White Writing Center at Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a writing tutor for six years.

Outside of teaching and writing, his hobbies include supporting all of his Seattle and northwest sports teams (Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders, Seattle Seahawks, Vancouver Canucks). He is also a lover of cats, collecting sneakers, Funko Pops, and perfume.
