Bio:

Wanda F. Reives, DSW, MSW is an Associate Professor – Director of Field Education in the Methodist University – Social Work program.  Dr. Reives joined the Social Work faculty at Methodist University in October 2022.  Prior to joining the faculty at Methodist University, Dr. Reives was a Clinical Associate Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work.  During her tenure at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work Dr. Reives was a member of the Management Assistance Team, Project NO Rest, Federal Workforce Project, and the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative.  As a member of the Management Assistance Team, she provided a crosswalk between data collection and analysis and child welfare policy and practice. Project No Rest was a federal project funded by the Children’s Bureau that focused on building awareness of human trafficking affecting children and youth involved in the child welfare system in North Carolina, reduce the number of youth who are trafficked, and improve outcomes for youth who experience human trafficking.  Her work with Project No Rest included curriculum development.  She developed courses on human trafficking for child welfare administrators and workers in county departments of social services. She was the Professional Education Coordinator for the North Carolina Workforce Project funded by the Children’s Bureau.  Dr. Reives is the former Director of the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative (NC-CWEC), North Carolina’s Title IV-E Traineeship program.

Dr. Reives has taught in areas of child welfare policy and practice, family centered practice, and macro social work practice for BSW and MSW students.  Prior to joining the faculty at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work, Dr. Reives worked in public child welfare as a manager at the county and state level for over 25 years. She has held elected and appointed positions in national child welfare and public service organizations.
