Minister’s Dependent Scholarship

The Minister’s Dependent Scholarship covers one-half of the tuition by Methodist University for a full time 12 hours in the DAY program student. The student must be the legal dependents/spouses of full-time licensed ordained ministers (active, retired or deceased) who are/or were members of the United Methodist Church. This Scholarship is extended to all faiths of ordained ministers residing in Cumberland County, North Carolina (the church must also be in Cumberland County). The scholarship may not be offered to a dependent/spouse who already has a Baccalaureate Degree. “Dependency” is defined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The scholarship is considered as part of the institutional cap. However, a student residing off campus will still receive one-half tuition which exceeds the off campus institutional cap. The District Superintendent or the minister’s supervisor must submit a letter to the Office of Financial Aid. The letter must be on church stationery and must state the student is a legal dependent of the minister and that the minister is a full time licensed ordained minister before the student can receive this scholarship. This letter must be submitted each academic year.
